Discussing Post-Unification Sicily at Berkeley!

I am deeply honored and grateful to Professor Mia Fuller for inviting me to discuss my work on post-unification Sicily at Berkeley’s Philosophy Hall with an exceptional cohort of PhD and post-PhD students and scholars from Italian Studies. In a one-day seminar we examined new approaches to the Southern Question, the narrative construction of Arab-Norman Sicily in the context of the new nation state, and the role of Palermo’s Botanical Garden in shaping both Italy’s colonial ambitions and ideas about the South. Being a guest at the Women’s Faculty Club was a real treat!
